Selected to the list of Northern California Rising Stars®, Palomar joined Tenant Law Group in 2018. He helps tenants recover money damages from landlords following egregious landlord behavior, provides eviction defense services, and represents renters at rent board hearings. Prior to joining Tenant Law Group, he was an associate at Tobener Ravenscroft LLP, as well as a Housing Counselor for the City of Berkeley Rent Stabilization Board. Palomar has counseled thousands of clients on local rent control ordinances and dedicates 100 percent of his practice to tenant rights law. He has previously worked for Minami Tamaki LLP, and he was a judicial extern for the office of the Honorable Edward M. Chen of the Federal District Court.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California Santa Cruz in 2006 and his Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2010. Palomar was elected to be the graduate student speaker for his class at his graduation ceremony. Palomar has taught countless youth through programs created for high school students of color interested in the law such as the Summer Legal Fellowship Program at U.C. Berkeley School of Law and the Marshall Brennan Program at U.C. Hastings College of the Law. Palomar also volunteers for the Alameda County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service as a panel attorney and the Bar Association of San Francisco Lawyer Referral and Information Service.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, but raised in Oakland, California, Palomar has deep roots in the Bay Area. Influenced by the lessons from his mother and family, he has always been dedicated to issues of social justice, community empowerment, and civil rights. As an Oakland native, he is proud to be working for the betterment of his community. While not working on behalf of his clients, Palomar enjoys taking walks, hiking, surfing, camping, snowboarding, and relaxing at home with his girlfriend and pets. He speaks conversational Spanish.
