April 2021 Newsletter

New Los Angeles Office, Discounted Consultations Through June 30, New Team Members & Milestones

Good Morning,

As discussed in last month’s newsletter, Governor Newsom recently signed legislation to extend California’s eviction moratorium through June 30, 2021, protecting renters suffering economic hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. SB 91 pauses evictions for tenants who declare under penalty of perjury an inability to pay all or part of the rent due to a COVID-related reason. Renters are still responsible for paying unpaid amounts to property owners, but those unpaid amounts cannot be the basis for an eviction, even after the moratorium ends.

In anticipation of the expected flurry of landlord-tenant disputes expected to begin this summer Tenant Law Group is in the process of opening a second office in Los Angeles to serve the millions of renters in the greater Los Angeles area. We expect to make a formal announcement about the opening of our Los Angeles office in our next newsletter.

Because we understand the economic pressures facing tenants throughout the state, Tenant Law Group will continue discounting virtual attorney consultations by $50.00 through June 30, 2021 for tenants throughout California.

Since our last newsletter, we have welcomed two new team members. Soledad De León joined Tenant Law Group on March 15 as a Case Manager. She is the first point of contact for litigation clients with questions about their case, provides regular status updates to litigation clients, and works closely with the litigation team to ensure that client matters being prosecuted and resolved as quickly as possible. While not working, she is studying law and watching rugby. Today is also the first day of work for Case Manager Daniela Lozada. Daniela received a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. Before joining Tenant Law Group, Daniela worked for an American luxury candy brand and for a traditional French chocolate company. Daniela speaks native Spanish, fluent English, and fluent French.

Finally, Tenant Law Group would like to congratulate Melissa V. Gutheim and Lucía Miri Echavarría on their recent promotions from Legal Assistant to Paralegal; and to Melissa, Lucía, Attorney Aser G. Tolentino, and Client Relations Manager Shawna M. Brinkley on their one-year anniversaries at TLG. Congratulations!

Thank you for your continued support of Tenant Law Group.
