February 2021 Newsletter

Congratulations to our Super Lawyers, The Virtues of Going Virtual & More New Team Members

Good Afternoon,

We have lots of exciting updates to share with you, including recognition by Super Lawyers, a recently published article about the benefits of a virtual law firm, and three new team members.

Super Lawyers recently recognized three attorneys in our firm for their exceptional work. Ryan M. Herrera, Esq. and Nicholas Goldman, Esq. were both recognized by Super Lawyers as 2021 Rising Stars, an award reserved for just 2.5% of eligible attorneys in Northern California. This was the first year Nick was recognized as a Rising Star and the second year for Ryan. Way to go, Ryan and Nick!

The January 2021 edition of Plaintiff Magazine features an article I wrote entitled, “The Virtues of Going Virtual.” In it, I discuss our firm’s transition from a brick-and-mortar law firm to a fully virtual law firm in the era of COVID-19; how other law firms can benefit from a virtual setup (i.e., by eliminating commercial rent, eliminating computing equipment, eliminating paper and paper-related equipment, eliminating telephone equipment, and expanding the workforce outside of the firm’s immediate geographical area); and how a virtual setup benefits the firm, the team, and the firm’s clients. The article is available here.

Since our last newsletter, we have welcomed three new individuals to our team. Joshua A. Solera joined Tenant Law Group on January 26 as Marketing Assistant. He will work with Ellen Toscano (now Marketing Manager) to ensure the delivery of content to Tenant Law Group’s social media channels and assist with marketing campaigns. Jacqueline M. Nguyen, joined Tenant Law Group on January 26 as a Provisionally Licensed Attorney. A graduate of UC Davis School of Law and former judicial extern to the Honorable Troy L. Nunley of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, Jackie will focus on helping tenants recover money damages following egregious landlord behavior. Nestor O. Nuñez joined Tenant Law Group on February 2 as a Case Manager. He is the first point of contact for litigation clients with questions about their case, provides regular status updates to litigation clients, and works closely with the litigation team to ensure that client matters are being prosecuted and resolved as quickly as possible.

One key position we are still hoping to fill in the next few months is that of Managing Attorney. The Managing Attorney’s primary responsibilities will be to oversee the provision of all legal services at Tenant Law Group, supervise and train attorneys and the legal team, and work with the CEO and COO to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the firm. An ideal candidate is a self-starter and problem-solver with both supervisory/managerial and trial experience. Although the Managing Attorney must be within driving distance of the San Francisco Bay Area for the occasional trial, the position is otherwise 100% remote. The job description and application instructions are available on this page of our website.

Thank you for your continued support of Tenant Law Group. As always, we offer virtual attorney consultations for tenants throughout California and have discounted all attorney consultations by $50.00 through March 31, 2021. If you or someone you know has been illegally displaced from a rent-controlled apartment; suffered discrimination or harassment in housing on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, ancestry, familial status, source of income, disability, genetic information, medical condition, citizenship, primary language, and/or immigration status; or otherwise been harmed by a landlord’s unlawful actions, please call (415) 915-7445 or follow this link to get started.

Warmest Wishes,

Eric L. Toscano
Founder & CEO
